Some new video

Just a quick post to upload some new video by request. Grandma D has video withdrawal if I don’t post new video regularly. So here are a few new videos… of Carter of course. The first is Carter walking, walking, walking, … and following the dog. The second video is Carter dragging a pillow around (he always has to carrying something lately). The third video is Carter feeding Holden. You know Carter is full when he starts to feed the dog, but always looking so innocent: “who me, feed the dog?”. The fourth video is to give the grandmas a heart attack: Shawn is going to get a call or two telling him to be careful with precious Carter!

11 months

Carter turned 11 months last week, I can’t believe it is only a few weeks until his first birthday!! He’s walking everywhere now, and has figured out how to get up on his own without doing a face plant. He’s also decided to eat meats this past week so we have made progress. I am still weaning him. He doesn’t’ like to sit still very long so he drinks in spurts. He is even starting to squirm with his evening breastfeeding so tonight Shawn will give him the cup. Carter is very talkative lately, mind you nothing makes sense except the occasional mama or dada. To get your attention he always says “uhhhh-uhhhh”. He’s also started to have little tantrums, which I find rather amusing when he jumps up and down, lays on the floor and smushes his face into the carpet. The babysitters usual comment is “he’s quite stubborn”. Yes he wants what he wants. If he is doing something wrong, usually he knows it, and will flash you his little mischievous smile… then will: once and a while listen, he’ll do it, wait till your not looking and do it, or have a little tantrum. Little bugger.

His new fav thing is pushing buttons. He watches me turn on the music, so now he’ll walk over and turn the music on and off. He also carries around this fish thing and CONSTANTLY pushes the button to play the same song over and over again. Lately he’ll carry everything around. On Sunday, while Shawn watched him, he admitted his was slightly bothered by the fact that Carter carried my purse around for most of the day!! Yes he holds the purse by the handle and walks around the house! But not to worry, today he walked around carrying the Don Cherry DVD. 

Carter has also started to pay attention to Sesame Street, in particular “Elmo’s world” with the talking drawer. And today he followed Holden around for the better part of an hour. Poor Holden couldn’t get a moment of rest today. Carter climbs over him, sits on him, and follows him around. Holden even opted to go outside into the heat just to get away from Carter this afternoon.

Happy Mother’s Day!!

Carter is walking everywhere now. He’s even started to figure out how to get up from sitting on his own (without pulling him self up on something or someone). He has taken a few face-plants into the carpet in the process but his balance is getting better.

 I’ve started to wean him from breastfeeding, and I think it will be a long process. He’s rather addicted. I’m only nursing him first in the morning & before bed, the rest is formula. He’s very stubborn, and up until today he’d only drink a few ounces of formula all day. Today he finally drank two full cups of formula from the sippy cup!! The first few days, when it was time to nurse in the evening & he saw the boppy come out, he’d get so excited, wave his arm & grunt!! Poor little guy looks like he’s in heaven when he gets a little boobie time. I think I’ll drag the weaning process out a bit, simply because I am too lazy to go make a bottle in the morning.

Today I also got him to eat some finger food meat. Yes, Carter is not a big fan of cheese, meat or bread. He will eat all kinds of veggies. I make some baby food & freeze prepared finger foods so he gets quite the variety, including broccoli, brussel spouts, cauliflower & zucchini. He’ll even eat tofu & lentils, but cheese, meat & bread is handed to the dog. Last week I got him to eat some ground turkey, in a veggie meatloaf — so yes the meat was hidden with the vegetables! But today he ate a few pieces of ham — progress. We also figured out he’ll eat bread dipped in hummus, actually he’ll eat just about anything dipped in hummus.
