Well Carter cut his first tooth last week. One tiny tooth on the bottom. Its like a little piece of glass in his mouth. He was a bit crabby and woke up a few times the night he cut it, no fever, but he is drooling like a madman which of course has given him diarrhea. Still breastfeeding, so I was not anxious for teeth but he has yet to bite me. Carter loves the teething biscuits, but so does the dog. We’ll let Carter sit in his walker and chew on a biscuit, of course Holden sits right next to him and watches very closely. Of course Carter loves to have Holden be so interested in him so he reaches out to share the biscuit, so Holden takes a little lick and then ever so gently removes the biscuit from his hand. So now the new challenge is to teach Holden not to take the biscuit and for Carter not to share the biscuit… hmm not likely. Think this is funny… watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULz9MxPSx1c
We had a good time at swim lessons last week. He was a little uneasy when we first got into the water and was holding onto my suit for dear life but he managed to relax after about 5minutes. He didn’t cry at all, even when we dunked him. I do admit, I had to let the instructor dunk him first because I didn’t have the heart. He seemed to enjoy floating around and even kicked his legs a little on his back. They heat the water to 90 degrees so I have to admit it was quite pleasant.
I also took Carter to a painting playdate last week. His first art project! It was created while chewing on the end of the brush and smearing paint on paper. We also took him hiking this weekend to try out our new backpack carrier. We hiked for 2 hours and he didn’t seem to mind one bit. He enjoyed the scenery, watched the dogs, and had a little snooze.

Carter is a busy busy little guy. He’s now very quick when he crawls, he can stand up and sit down without a problem, he can shuffle standing along the side of the coffee table or couch, and his is climbing onto or under things. Shawn is convinced he is fearless, and I worry that Carter is and that Shawn is proud of that! Dressing and diapers are now a battle. I am learning to diaper him on his stomach or while he crawls away. He’s also started to babble, and yes it appears he can say Dada… but its not clear that Dada is Shawn, because it appears random at this time. I am working on Mama.
Last week I realized that he really likes the baby swing at the park. The weather has been great, so now we frequent the park a few times a week. I’ve also enrolled in swim lessons; we start tomorrow. Should be fun, and this way he’ll be ready for the summer since we spend most weekends in the pool.

Here are few new videos, because I know a few of you suffer from Carter withdrawal. Enjoy.

Well Carter is definitely on the move. Shawn now describes him as “quite the little handful”. He can now crawl very fast and pull himself up to his feet without a problem. Luckily he has also figured out how to sit down from standing without simply tipping over or sitting down hard; although he does take the occasional good fall. He is also trying to climb things now. His bouncer chair is no longer for sitting in, its for climbing in and out of. Poor Holden is also something to climb on, or over. I for-see a baby play-yard in our near future — ie. baby jail.
Holden’s bowls have been moved to the far side of the kitchen, but now Carter has found them as it is no problem to climb through the legs of the highchair. Holden’s toy box has also been moved: while Holden can distinguish his toys form Carter’s, Carter can not. Yes my son will play with the dog toys.. he stands up at the toy bin & roots around for his chosen dog toy! A plant has also been moved & all the ”decorative” items are gone from the coffee table. It is now also habit to keep the door to the laundry room and bathroom shut.
I am working on finding a babysitter, in fact I may have found one. No I’m not going back to work, its time to get out of the house for happy hour once in a while. Maybe we’ll even get to go out on Valentine’s day! Carter is taking the bottle better so I’m not as worried anymore.
Poopie Face
This is Carters “poopie face”. He grunts and makes this face pretty much everytime, often during dinner so he can make a little room.
