6 months

December 16, 2006

Carter turned 6 months this week. He now weighs 17lbs 9oz (55th percentile), and he’s 27.5inches long (75th percentile). He’s eating well, and sweet potato, apples, bannanas and oatmeal are his favorite. He can now sit on his own, and he’s very into toys lately. He loves his little piano, plastic teething rings, jumperoo & his leapfrog table (he also loves to stand). Carter is also in love with Holden. Holden is always greeted with smiles & a giggle; its a little crazy how much he likes the dog! Shawn is convinced his first word is going to be doggie. Holden has now learned to keep himself just out of reach to avoid his hair being pulled. Although he seems to like Carter too,  he races (practically hip checking you on the steps) to greet Carter first when he wakes up from his nap.

We leave for Toronto on Tuesday. Hopefully Carter will do ok on the plane. He’s rather curious & resless now. He’d rather be on the floor rolling around & putting things in his mouth. I will be the crazy lady on the plane who wipes down the arm rests, table & windows… only because Carter will make attempts to taste & chew them all!!

For those who are wondering: no teeth yet. My mom was certain he would have teeth by Christmas — he chews on everything that comes close to his mouth & drools like a maniac. I am not anxious for teeth since I am still breastfeeding.

Merry Christmas !!

Visit from Oz

December 4, 2006

Tom, his girlfriend Alison, and friend Julie were here from Australia for a quick visit to meet Carter. They are travelling for a month doing a southwest tour; must be nice!! Plus my grandfather, mom & dad were also here to visit.  So Carter was very pampered this week, with tonnes of attention. He was quite the little flirt and didn’t seem to mind being passed around. Although those holding him did run the risk of being chewed or suffering a nose pinch (Carter is very grabby & chewy these days!).  We had a good time, eating, drinking, shopping, & even took Tom & my dad for pedicures (see the photos on flkr if you don’t believe it!). Carter has started sitting on his own this week, and my mom couldn’t believe how well he can stand. Carter loves to stand, & is now able to stand & play with things on the coffee table, unassited until he tips over. Carter turns 6 months on Dec 9th, I am curious to know how tall his is because he seems to have grown out of a tonne of clothes this past month.

 Uncle Tom

We have had a relaxing weekend. Took Carter hiking – he slept through most of the hike, & watched the dog when he was awake. Two & a half weeks until we arrive in Toronto (Grandma W is counting down the days). Well be in Bracebridge most of the time, with a quick trip to Ottawa around the 21st to 23rd. Those who are in town and want to get together, please email me. All for now, must go watch amazing race with Shawn.
